Playing Back & Exporting CCTV Footage
To enter the Playback Menu, you need to click the Playback button across the top From there you will be presented with the playback Menu
To use Playback, you need to select the channels you wish to view, using the tickbox on the left hand side.
With that done, you can then select a date to search. Dates with a coloured triangle in the top right corner have footage, and the date with a blue circle beneath it is the current date.
With a Camera and Date Selected, you’ll get footage on screen, and the Timeline will be highlighted with the available footage
You can adjust the timeline’s view from 24hr to different options by selecting the drop down menu on the right hand side
To move through the timeline, you can either click and drag along the line, or double click on a time to seek. Hovering over the timeline will produce a selection of snapshots of that period to make it easier to find an incident you want to see.
There are two ways to export from the Recorder. The first is by selecting the Clipping Tool in Play
back, as below.
This will place a blue tick in the center of the image of the selected camera in playback. If you’re playing back multiple channels, you will need to select each channel to select it for playback
You can use the start & end brackets that appear in the timeline to define the range of time you wish to export, these can be dragged along the timeline for the required time.
Alternatively, if you want more precise control over the time window you desire to backup, you can click the ‘Clip Time’ option in the Playback menu as below, to input times manually as below
Once you’re ready, click export from the Clip Time menu, or press the Export Button as below.
You will then be prompted to choose Video and Log or Player. We would recommend you just export the Video & Log and download the latest version of Hikvision’s VS Player from their website or our own.
This will bring up a menu that will list any connected USB Storage devices it can see on the system. You can choose from them at the menu at the top. From here you just need to make sure your desired USB device is selected and then click okay and it should export the footage to your device.
To view the progress of the backup, you can click the Backup option at the top right, and this will list any ongoing backups and an ETA of their completion.
The other option for exporting can be found under file management, which can be found across the menus at the top.
From here you can search a range of time for recorded files, by specific cameras. You just need to specify a start time, end time, and choose the cameras you wish to search for footage in the below menu. Then just choose start search at the bottom to look for footage.
This will bring up the file list, with files listed by start date & channel.
From here you can click the play button to review the footage in question.
You can also lock specific files to prevent them being overwritten. If the HDD’s are removed, format ted or fail the footage will still be lost.
You can either select All files using the optional tick box, or highlight specific files and click the export option at the top to bring up the export menu and backup the selected files.
If any exports fail, its recommended to ensure your USB device is formatted in NTFS, which can be done through the export menu. Alternatively, ensure you’re backing up 10-15 minutes or more footage.
To go back to the previous search menu, just click the drop-down menu across the top.
